Manchester City are reportedly interested in signing Borussia Dortmund left-back Raphael Guerreiro this summer.

The Citizens are in the market for a new first-team left-back after allowing Oleksandr Zinchenko to join up with Mikel Arteta at Arsenal.

Last month, manager Pep Guardiola indicated that City will pursue a new left-back this summer, but also affirmed that he is happy with the current options at his disposal.

"If it's possible (to sign a left-back), yes, if it's not we stay," Guardiola told reporters. "Joao [Cancelo] can play there, Josh [Wilson-Esbrand], Nathan [Ake]. I never complain about the squad I have since the first season. What the club can do is the benefit for the club not me. I support the club."

City have reportedly reached an agreement with Anderlecht to sign left-back Sergio Gomez in a deal worth in excess of €10m (£8.5m).

The Citizens initially considered sending the 21-year-old out on loan for the 2022-23 campaign, but Guardiola is believed to be content with keeping hold of the Spaniard, who can provide cover for Cancelo.

Gomez is thought to be regarded as a development player by City, though, and they remain on the hunt for a first-team left-back before the September 1 deadline.

According to Sky Sports News, Dortmund left-back Guerreiro is one of several potential first-team options City are considering.

The 28-year-old has spent the last six years with the Bundesliga giants, but he has now entered the final 12 months of this contract at Westfalenstadion.

Guerreiro endured an injury-hit 2021-22 campaign but he was still able to contribute with five goals and four assists in 28 appearances for BVB across all competitions.

The former Caen and Lorient left-back boasts Champions League experience and is also regarded as a first-team regular for the Portugal national team, representing his country on 56 occasions.

Another left-back believed to be on City's radar who is also plying his trade in the Bundesliga is Stuttgart's Borna Sosa.

However, one source has told Sky Sports News that the 24-year-old is not currently under consideration by the Citizens.

Sosa has impressed as both a left-back and left wing-back over the last two seasons with Stuttgart, providing 18 assists in 54 German top-flight appearances.

The Croatia international, who still has three years remaining on his contract, is believed to be valued by Stuttgart between €20m (£17m) and €25m (£21.2m).

Guardiola has already recruited two new players from the Bundesliga this summer in the form of Erling Braut Haaland and Stefan Ortega from Dortmund and Arminia Bielefeld respectively, while Kalvin Phillips has also arrived from Leeds United.
