Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp confirms that "legend" Divock Origi will leave the club upon the expiration of his contract this summer.

Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that Liverpool "legend" Divock Origi will be leaving the club this summer.

The Belgian attacker has scored a plethora of memorable late goals for the Reds, including his side's second in the 2019 Champions League final against Tottenham Hotspur.

However, Origi has consistently struggled to displace the likes of Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane in the final third and fell further down the pecking order following Diogo Jota's arrival.

Origi is out of contract this summer and is believed to be on the verge of a move to AC Milan, and Klopp paid a special tribute to the 27-year-old in Friday's press conference.

"I expect Div to get a special reception. One of the most important players I ever had. He was and is a pure joy to work with," Klopp told reporters ahead of Sunday's clash with Wolverhampton Wanderers.

"It's not over yet but he deserves all good thought we can generate for his future. He'll be a success. I remember so many things when I think about Div. Goals, ups and downs. A Liverpool legend."

Origi has amassed 41 goals and 18 assists in 175 games for Liverpool since arriving from Lille in 2014, but he has not started a single Premier League game this season.

The striker could be in line for some minutes on the final day of the season, where Liverpool need to win and hope Manchester City slip up against Steven Gerrard's Aston Villa in order to win the title.

Klopp had "good news" to share over Joe Gomez's injury after the defender went off against Southampton, but Salah and Virgil van Dijk are both still doubtful.

"Good news on Joe (Gomez), we had a reassuring scan. We thought after game we were lucky, it was a proper knock but nothing happened. Result of scan isn't in but we don't expect anything different," Klopp added.

"The rest of the boys look all good, what we do for the weekend, I don't know yet. Mo doesn't want to take any risks, no doubt about that but it looks good.

"I understand Golden Boot (for Salah) but we won't take risks. My preferred decision is they play at the weekend or at least be on bench for rhythm reasons. I can't say 100%."

The Liverpool boss was also asked for his thoughts on the recent spate of pitch invasion-related incidents after Patrick Vieira kicked out at an Everton supporter on Thursday night.

Earlier this week, a Nottingham Forest fan was jailed for six months after headbutting Sheffield United's Billy Sharp, and Klopp has called for immediate change to end the risks of danger.

"I'm not sure how you can avoid that, it's really difficult. I understand the emotions but for the players of the other team it is massively uncomfortable, and it should not be dangerous for them," Klopp said.

"We have seen two guys in the last two games, they should not be there, but these things happen and I really hope we learn from that. We should make sure that nothing, absolutely nothing, happens.

"People threaten themselves by jumping onto the pitch. I think we can celebrate things without threatening ourselves and the opponent, that should be possible."

Liverpool will enter the final matchday of the season one point adrift of Pep Guardiola's side in the table but with a worse goal difference of +66 compared to +72 for the champions.
