Ousmane Dembele is reportedly running the risk of being frozen out of the Barcelona team if he does not sign a new deal at the club.

Barcelona are reportedly prepared to freeze Ousmane Dembele out of the side if he does not sign a new contract at the club.

The France international has only just returned to Blaugrana training after recovering from knee surgery and is still waiting for his first appearance of the 2021-22 season.

Dembele's deal with Barcelona is set to expire in 2022, though, and the attacker has been heavily linked with a free transfer to Liverpool should he run down the final months of his Blaugrana contract.

According to The Mirror, Barca have informed Dembele that he will not be considered for selection if he refuses to commit his future to the club, which could mean that he has played his final game in Catalonia.

The report adds that Dembele's agent is yet to respond to an offer of a three-year extension, and Barca are fearful that the attacker's camp will begin negotiating with foreign clubs in January.

The 24-year-old has made 118 appearances during an injury-hit four years at Barcelona, contributing 30 goals and 21 assists in the process.
