Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp defends goalkeeper Simon Mignolet after the Belgian was blamed for two of Arsenal's goals in the pulsating 3-3 draw at Anfield.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has leapt to the defence of under-fire goalkeeper Simon Mignolet following his performance against Arsenal on Wednesday.

The Belgian was arguably at fault for the Gunners' first two goals during the thrilling 3-3 draw at Anfield, being beaten at his near post by Aaron Ramsey before failing to cover his angles from a corner as Olivier Giroud helped the delivery in.

However, Klopp believes that a number of other players should have done better for the second goal before it even reached Mignolet.

"For the second goal he needs help from all the players. On the second goal, on a perfect day he can make a save but there were a lot of mistakes before. We have to defend this better," Klopp is quoted as saying by BBC Sport.

Mignolet, who kept more Premier League clean sheets than any other goalkeeper in 2015, is understood to be nearing a new five-year contract at Anfield.
