Trent Alexander-Arnold may reportedly have a slim chance of returning from injury for Liverpool's top-of-the-table Premier League clash with Manchester City on April 10.

Liverpool right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold could reportedly have a slim chance of returning for his side's top-of-the-table clash with Manchester City on April 10.

The 23-year-old picked up a hamstring injury before the international break and was forced to withdraw from the England squad for March's friendlies with Switzerland and Ivory Coast.

Jurgen Klopp initially claimed that Alexander-Arnold would be out for "weeks" with the issue, and he is expected to sit out Saturday's clash with Watford and the first leg of his side's Champions League quarter-final with Benfica next week.

However, The Athletic claims that Alexander-Arnold may be able to make his comeback at the Etihad Stadium, with the defender making strong progress in his recovery in Dubai.

The report adds that a return against the reigning champions would still represent a risk amid the quick turnaround, and Jurgen Klopp is not prepared to take any chances with the England international.

Alexander-Arnold has scored two goals and set up 17 more in 35 appearances across all competitions this term, with his 11 Premier League assists one more than closest challengers and teammates Mohamed Salah and Andy Robertson.

Liverpool only sit one point behind Man City at the top of the table after Pep Guardiola's men dropped points in a 0-0 draw with Crystal Palace two weeks ago.
