Leeds United have 'no immediate plans' to offer central defender Gaetano Berardi a new deal, according to a report.

Leeds United reportedly have 'no immediate plans' to offer a new contract to Gaetano Berardi.

The 31-year-old will see his current deal at Elland Road expire at the end of the 2019-20 campaign, meaning that he will be free to agree terms with foreign clubs at the start of 2020.

Earlier this month, it was reported that the Whites were open to the idea of handing the Swiss a new deal as he has been a regular for Marcelo Bielsa's side over the last few weeks.

However, according to Football Insider, Leeds are not currently in discussions with the central defender, and the club will wait to see how the campaign unfolds before making a final decision.

Berardi has been involved in each of his team's last four Championship matches, including Tuesday night's 1-1 draw with Preston North End at Deepdale.

In total, the defender has made 139 appearances for the Whites since arriving from Sampdoria in 2014.
