Bournemouth vs. Brentford: Head-to-head record and past meetings

Ahead of Saturday's Premier League clash between Bournemouth and Brentford, Sports Mole looks at the head-to-head record and previous meetings between the two clubs.

Two teams separated by just three places in the Premier League table prepare for an intriguing battle at the Vitality Stadium on Saturday evening, as Bournemouth host Brentford in the 5.30pm kickoff.

The Cherries are at risk of suffering three straight home losses without scoring for the first time ever in the Premier League, and they return to their own patch after throwing away a 2-0 lead to draw 2-2 with Tottenham Hotspur last weekend.

Meanwhile, Brentford's shocking home struggles continued as they suffered a 1-0 defeat to Aston Villa last weekend, although they have incredibly won each of their last four Premier League matches on the road.

Here, Sports Mole takes an in-depth look at the head-to-head record and previous meetings between the two sides.

Head-to-head record

Previous meetings: 119
Bournemouth wins: 39
Draws: 33
Brentford wins: 47

A contest that was a League Two fixture as recently as 2009, Premier League foes Bournemouth and Brentford have now done battle on 119 occasions across all competitions, and there is not much to split the two sides in the head-to-head column.

Indeed, Brentford have prevailed in 47 of their 119 matches, while the Cherries are not all that far behind with 39 successes to their name, and another 33 encounters have ended in a share of the spoils.

However, over the past three seasons of Premier League action, Brentford have often had Bournemouth's number, as the Bees have gone unbeaten in each of their five previous meetings with the Cherries in the top flight, winning three of them and drawing twice.

Ahead of Saturday's fixture, that record represents the most Premier League games Brentford have played against a single side without ever losing, as well as the most that Bournemouth have played against a single team without ever winning.

The Gtech Community Stadium showdown between Brentford and Bournemouth in November 2024 certainly lived up to the billing, as despite falling 1-0 and 2-1 down on the afternoon, Thomas Frank's men produced a terrific turnaround to prevail 3-2.

The last time Bournemouth got one over Brentford was in the first leg of their 2020-21 Championship playoff semi-final, as Arnaut Danjuma propelled the Cherries to a 1-0 victory, but the Bees turned the tide with a 3-1 second-leg win to advance to Wembley.

A knockout game also brought the biggest margin of victory for either side in this fixture so far, as Brentford thrashed Bournemouth 6-0 in the quarter-finals of the 2011-12 EFL Trophy thanks to a fabulous four goals from Mike Grella.

That quartet of strikes alone makes the American the second-highest documented scorer in this fixture, only behind Steve Fletcher's six for Bournemouth against Brentford.
