Wednesday's Bundesliga predictions including Borussia Dortmund vs. Mainz 05

Sports Mole provides score predictions for all of Wednesday's Bundesliga action, including Borussia Dortmund vs. Mainz.

Frankfurt vs. Schalke (Wednesday, 5.30pm)

Eintracht Frankfurt and Schalke 04 meet in the Bundesliga on Wednesday evening with just one point separating the clubs in the league standings.

With qualification for the Europa League now unlikely, the teams, who are ninth and 10th respectively, are bidding to finish in the top half of the table.

We say: Eintracht Frankfurt 2-1 Schalke 04

Although Schalke have improved in recent games, we expect Frankfurt to inflict their first defeat in three outings on Wednesday. The home side remain as one of the form teams in the division, and they should have enough quality to ensure that they move ahead of their opponents in the table.

Dortmund vs. Mainz 05 (Wednesday, 7.30pm)

Borussia Dortmund will be looking to tighten their grip on second place in the Bundesliga when they play host to relegation-threatened Mainz 05 on Wednesday evening.

BVB have won four out of five matches since the division resumed last month, but Bayern Munich are expected to be crowned champions for an eighth successive season on Tuesday.

We say: Borussia Dortmund 3-0 Mainz 05

A costly defeat to title rivals Bayern aside, Dortmund have been in impressive form since the Bundesliga resumed, whereas Mainz have struggled for wins. BVB have won 15 of their last 19 league meetings with Wednesday's opponents, so we are backing a comfortable home victory.

RB Leipzig vs. Dusseldorf (Wednesday, 7.30pm)

RB Leipzig will be looking to consolidate their hold on a Champions League place when they welcome Fortuna Dusseldorf to the Red Bull Arena on Wednesday.

In contrast, Dusseldorf currently occupy the relegation playoff spot and are three points from safety following their dampening defeat to Borussia Dortmund.

We say: RB Leipzig 3-0 Fortuna Dusseldorf

Dusseldorf defended extremely well for long periods against Dortmund last weekend, but they are now facing a free-scoring Leipzig side who will be determined to end their winless run on home soil, and we expect Nagelsmann's side to pick up all three points in routine fashion.

B. Leverkusen vs. FC Koln (Wednesday, 7.30pm)

Bayer Leverkusen will be looking to maintain their position in the top four when they welcome FC Koln to the BayArena on Wednesday evening.

Leverkusen are aiming to recover from a disappointing 1-1 draw with Schalke, whereas Koln suffered a 2-1 home defeat to Union Berlin last time out.

We say: Bayer Leverkusen 2-0 FC Koln

Leverkusen will be desperate to avoid any more slip ups as the race for the final Champions League spot hots up, and we expect the DFB-Pokal finalists to record a straightforward victory over a Koln side who are winless in seven matches.

Augsburg vs. Hoffenheim (Wednesday, 7.30pm)

Augsburg play host to Hoffenheim on Wednesday night knowing that one victory from their final three league games will be enough to retain their status in the Bundesliga for another 12 months.

Meanwhile, Hoffenheim make the trip to Bavaria knowing that maximum points are required to keep the pressure on Wolfsburg in the race for Europa League qualification.

We say: Augsburg 1-1 Hoffenheim

Despite the difference in league positions, Augsburg arguably head into this contest as the marginal favourites. However, with the home side more than happy with a point and Hoffenheim needing to push for all three, we feel that could lead to a share of the spoils.
