Real Betis record a 1-0 win over a 10-man Espanyol in La Liga.

Real Betis have beaten 10-man Espanyol 1-0 in their La Liga match this evening.

The hosts came close after 13 minutes through Agra's strike from the centre of the box, but his shot went wide.

Betis did break the deadlock soon after, however, when Paulao headed in Ruben Perez's free kick to make it 1-0.

Agra came close again on the stroke of half-time, but his free kick from just outside the box was just too high.

Espanyol began the second half well, hitting the woodwork twice in as many minutes just 10 minutes after the restart. First, Wakaso's strike hit the post before Simao latched on to Joan Verdu's pass, only to see his effort hit the bar.

Espanyol's chances took a turn for the worse after 67 minutes, however, as Wakaso picked up a second yellow card to receive his marching orders.

Betis held on to their slender lead to claim all three points.
