Filippo Inzaghi rues lack of killer instinct in Milan derby

AC Milan boss Filippo Inzaghi believes that his side would have secured the bragging rights had they been a little more ruthless in Sunday's draw with Inter Milan.

Filippo Inzaghi has hit out at his AC Milan side for lacking the killer instinct to snatch the derby-day spoils in Sunday's 1-1 draw with Inter Milan.

Jeremy Menez had fired Inzaghi's troops into a half-time lead before Joel Obi hit back to salvage a point for Roberto Mancini on his Inter homecoming.

The Rossoneri missed a series of chances to steal the bragging rights, with Stephen El Shaarawy striking the bar in a one-on-one, and the 41-year-old says that his side need to be more ruthless in the future.

"It's a shame for him, as it would've been the ultimate for him to decide a derby. That's his kind of move, but these things happen – I know I've missed them," he told Sky Sport Italia.

"It's disappointing to be in the lead, have some clear chances and not win. However, my team gave everything it had and it was a balanced game where Inter did well too."

The result sees Milan stay seventh in Serie A, one point ahead of Inter in ninth.
