Wolverhampton Wanderers near deal for Scottish defender Barry Douglas?

Wolverhampton Wanderers are reportedly close to sealing the signing of Konyaspor defender Barry Douglas, who has also been interesting Celtic.

Wolverhampton Wanderers have reportedly moved closer to signing defender Barry Douglas after Celtic pulled out of the race for his signature.

The Midlands side have frequently been linked with new signings since the arrival of new head coach Nuno Espirito Santo, with three defensive acquisitions having already been completed.

However, according to the Express & Star, Wolves remain intent on strengthening at the back and are likely to sign Douglas from Konyaspor before the end of the week.

The Scottish left-back has spent the last 18 months in Turkey, but it appears that he is ready to return to British shores for the first time since 2013, when he left Dundee United for Lech Poznan.

It has been claimed that the 27-year-old will cost in the region of £1m and should a move be completed, he will provide competition for both Matt Doherty and Kortney Hause.

Earlier this week, Wolves announced that left-back Silvio - who was limited to just five games last season due to injury - had been allowed to leave the Championship outfit.
