West Ham United reportedly fail with a late bid to sign Bayer Leverkusen defender Jonathan Tah before Monday's transfer deadline.

West Ham United have reportedly failed in their attempt to sign Bayer Leverkusen defender Jonathan Tah.

Having refused to meet the asking price of Burnley centre-back James Tarkowski, the Hammers have been forced to look elsewhere before Monday's deadline.

West Ham had also been willing to spend big on 24-year-old Tah, who has established himself as a key player at Leverkusen.

However, Football Insider claims that the Bundesliga outfit are not prepared to sell one of their most prized assets at this stage of the transfer window.

Tah still has just under three years remaining on his contract, leaving Leverkusen in no rush to cash in on the Germany international.

On the back of convincing wins over Wolverhampton Wanderers and Leicester City in the Premier League, the East London outfit may opt against any more late bids.
