Joey O'Brien: 'West Ham United need a big win against Sunderland'

Joey O'Brien admits that West Ham need a "big win" against Sunderland to lift spirits at the club.

West Ham United defender Joey O'Brien has admitted that the team needs to end their slump with a "big win" against Sunderland this weekend.

The Hammers currently sit in 10th place in the Premier League table after failing to win any of their last seven games.

However, O'Brien believes that West Ham have a great chance to get back to winning ways when the struggling Black Cats make the trip to Upton Park on Saturday.

"We need a big win [this Saturday] against Sunderland," he told the club's official website. "We haven't won in a long time and that's taken the shine off how well we started the season.

"We need to kick on for the last nine games. We've got the big boys out of the way now so hopefully we can kick on and get some points on the board."

Sunderland head to East London just one point above the relegation zone following Saturday's 4-0 thrashing by Aston Villa.
