West Bromwich Albion are considering a permanent move for Birmingham City goalkeeper Ben Foster.

West Bromwich Albion are looking to turn Ben Foster's loan move from Birmingham City into a permanent deal.

Foster impressed last season and was named the club's player of the year after the Baggies finished 10th in the table. Although he is due to return to the Blues, City's failure to secure promotion from the Championship could help Albion in a move.

West Brom's assistant manager Keith Downing says that the board needs to decide whether they will try to sign the goalkeeper or not.

"We have always stated as a football staff we want Ben to stay, and the supporters have shown their appreciation of him," said Downing.

"He has won awards, and his fellow players have made him their Player of the Year. That shows what the people around him think. The club have a decision to make as to whether they can pursue their interest in him.

"I think he is happy enough to be around, he has enjoyed his year here so that will be a board decision."

Foster ruled out a return to international football earlier this week.
