Ghana 2-1 Tunisia

Ghana book their place in the semi-finals of the Africa Cup of Nations with a 2-1 win over Tunisia after extra time.

Ghana have booked their place in the semi-finals of the Africa Cup of Nations with a 2-1 win over Tunisia after extra time.

Ghana were ahead in the ninth minute when John Mensah guided his header in from a corner.

Jordan Ayew blasted his free kick over the bar soon after, while Tunisia appealed for a penalty after Sabeur Khalifa appeared to be pulled down in the area. However, the referee waved away the protests.

It mattered little as Tunisia drew level in the final minutes of the half when Khalifa nodded in Zouheir Dhaouadi's cross at the far post.

Agyemang Badu saw his header saved early in the second half, before Youssef Msakni's powerful effort was deflected over for Tunisia.

Gyan had a good chance to win it for Ghana in injury time, but his free kick sailed over the bar.

As both sides went on the attack in extra-time, Ayew nearly captialised on some confusion in the Tunisia defence, but his shot was poked clear.

Ghana grabbed their winner in the 101st minute when Ayew tapped in after Tunisia goalkeeper Aymen Mathlouthi dropped a catch.

Tunisia's misery was compounded in the second half of extra-time as Aymen Abdennour was shown a straight red card for an elbow on Ayew.
