Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly keen on retaining Gareth Bale, who is currently on loan from Real Madrid, if Harry Kane is to exit North London this summer.

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly interested in retaining on-loan Real Madrid forward Gareth Bale if Harry Kane is to depart North London this summer.

The Welshman returned to Spurs for his second spell with the club last summer, after initially leaving the Lilywhites for Real Madrid in 2013, where he has gone on to win four Champions League titles.

However, since Zinedine Zidane has taken the helm at Los Blancos, Bale fell out of favour and did not feel valued by the Spanish giants, only making 16 La Liga appearances in the 2019-20 campaign.

According to AS, extending his contract in North London would benefit all parties as it reduces Real Madrid's wage bill and Bale seems happier playing football back in the Premier League.

With Harry Kane the subject of interest for many top European clubs, Tottenham will expect a figure in the region of £120m for the England captain and those funds could help pay for Bale.

Bale boasts the best minutes-per-goal ratio at Spurs this season, averaging a goal every 100 minutes, scoring nine times in 19 Premier League appearances for the club.
