Tottenham Hotspur sack Mauricio Pochettino on this day in 2019 after the Argentine failed to win any of his final five Premier League games in charge.

Tottenham Hotspur relieved Mauricio Pochettino of his duties on this day in 2019.

The Argentine oversaw a 1-1 draw at home to Sheffield United during his final game in charge on November 9, which was his 293rd game in control of the reins at Tottenham.

The stalemate with the Blades marked Spurs' fifth Premier League game in a row without a win during that dismal period, and Pochettino was sacked with Spurs languishing in 14th in the table.

Pochettino departed after winning 160 of his 293 games at the helm in a spell lasting nearly five and a half years, and Tottenham moved swiftly to appoint Jose Mourinho as his successor, with his arrival confirmed the next day.

Pochettino had guided Tottenham to the Champions League final mere months before his sacking and left North London without winning a single trophy, but he has already scooped the Trophee des Champions and Coupe de France with Paris Saint-Germain.

The 49-year-old's PSG side currently sit 10 points clear at the top of the Ligue 1 table, while Spurs will seek their first Premier League win under Antonio Conte during Sunday's clash with Leeds United.
