Zinedine Zidane "happy" with Espanyol success

Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane hails his team following Sunday's 2-0 win over Espanyol, which maintained Los Blancos' 100% start to the new La Liga campaign.

Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane has revealed his delight after his much-changed XI recorded a 2-0 victory over Espanyol in Sunday night's La Liga contest.

Los Blancos were without the services of Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale in Barcelona, while Raphael Varane and Toni Kroos were left on the bench as Zidane shuffled his pack.

Goals from James Rodriguez and Karim Benzema secured all the points for the visitors, and Zidane has paid tribute to his squad for continuing their 100% start to the new La Liga campaign.

"I'm happy, not only with James and Benzema but also the performance in general. The most important thing is the work they did together," Zidane told reporters.

"I had to play [James] in the middle, behind Karim as a number 10. I saw him to be very well. I'm happy with the changes because they all did great. We're always going to rotate and we'll continue to do so.

"I have 24 players available and they all have quality. There are 60 games remaining and all the players must be able to be changed. Thanks to the efforts of everyone, we're doing very well."

Next up for Real Madrid is a home match against unbeaten Villarreal on Wednesday night.
