Barcelona full-back Jordi Alba calls on Real Madrid to give his side a guard of honour during Sunday's El Clasico after they won the La Liga title last time out.

Barcelona full-back Jordi Alba has called on Real Madrid's players to give his side a guard of honour when they walk out for El Clasico this weekend.

Barca will host their bitter rivals at Camp Nou on Sunday in their first match since regaining the league title from Los Blancos courtesy of a 4-2 win over Deportivo La Coruna.

Opposition teams traditionally give the newly-crowned champions a guard of honour after winning the title, but Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane has suggested that his side will not afford Barcelona that courtesy due to not getting one themselves after winning the Club World Cup in December.

"In our case, Barca would do the guard of honour," Alba told reporters.

"The Club World Cup was a competition we didn't play in. At the Bernabeu, in the league, we have previously performed a guard of honour. If they don't want to give us a guard of honour it will be because it comes from upstairs."

Barcelona - who have also won the Copa del Rey this season - are on the verge of completing an unbeaten season with just four games remaining.
