Cardiff City boss Russell Slade hails team's work rate

Cardiff City boss Russell Slade celebrates his first win in charge of the club over Nottingham Forest.

Cardiff City manager Russell Slade has praised his side's work rate during their 2-1 win over Nottingham Forest in the Championship.

Goals from Federico Macheda and Peter Whittingham inflicted a first defeat on Forest, and the Bluebirds boss described the win as "a great result for the football club" in his first game in charge.

Sky Sports News quotes him as saying: "The players worked exceptionally hard. I hope people saw a bit of a difference today and a bit of a structure and a game plan which we can develop going forward.

"The first half was really pleasing. We looked a threat going forward, we created a few opportunities and we were nice and compact without the ball.

"We hung on in there well during the last few minutes, which were a bit scary, and it is a great result for the football club."

The result moves Cardiff up to 12th place in the Championship table, while Forest drop down to fifth.
