John Carver: 'Newcastle United will never return to glory'

John Carver says that Newcastle United will never be successful again.

Former manager John Carver has said that Newcastle United will never be successful again.

Newcastle slipped to a 2-0 defeat to West Ham United on Monday evening and are rooted to the bottom of the Premier League table.

"Kevin [Keegan] created this monster and the monster needed to be fed. Unfortunately since Kevin left and since Sir Bob [Robson] was there, we've not been able to feed the monster," Carver told The Mirror.

"He created something when I was a young football coach at the time and it was so enjoyable to watch. The fans think we can get back to that but I don't think we ever will."

Newcastle will continue their Premier League campaign against Watford on Saturday.
