Martin Odegaard wants Real Madrid return amid Manchester United links

Martin Odegaard reiterates his desire to play for Real Madrid amid reports linking him with Manchester United.

Martin Odegaard has reiterated his desire to play for Real Madrid amid reports linking him with Manchester United.

The Norwegian made headlines back in 2014 when his performances at Stromsgodset prompted Los Blancos to shell out £2.6m for him at the age of just 15.

Odegaard's latest loan spell at Real Sociedad - a two-year deal - has piqued the interest of other clubs including United following a string of impressive displays in La Liga.

Speaking about his future beyond Sociedad, Odegaard told ESPN: "My intention is to stay (at Sociedad) for two years and I think that's important for me.

"I have had two seasons in a row where I have changed teams. To have some stability is good [and] this is a great club and hopefully we can get European football for next season.

"Of course I want to play there (Madrid) but I'm still young so I'm happy here at the moment."

The youngster has also spent loan spells at Dutch sides SC Heerenveen and Vitesse between 2016 and 2019.

Reports have stated that, following a stuttering start to their season, Real were considering prematurely recalling Odegaard from his loan spell in San Sebastian.
