Schalke 04 winger Rabbi Matondo 'brushes off Manchester United speculation'

Schalke 04 winger Rabbi Matondo suggests that he is attempting to ignore speculation linking him with a future transfer to Manchester United.

Winger Rabbi Matondo has said that he remains fully focused on life at Schalke 04, despite speculation linking him with a future move to Manchester United.

Despite finding himself in and out of the starting lineup during his opening 16 months at the VELTINS-Arena, Matondo is said to be a transfer target of United and Liverpool.

Although Matondo has acknowledged talk about his next move, the Wales international has indicated that he wants to concentrate on representing his current side.

Speaking to Manchester Evening News, the 19-year-old said: "Obviously there are people talking, asking me and stuff but I am not really thinking about it.

"I am concentrating on Schalke. I still have to achieve my goals for Schalke. I am just concentrating on that and we just see how things go, but for now I am just focused on Schalke.

"Hopefully I can get into the team and help them climb up the table."

Matondo played 77 minutes as Schalke suffered a 3-0 defeat at home to Augsburg on Sunday afternoon.
