Manchester United are one of four clubs in the race for Benfica forward Darwin Nunez, according to a report.

Manchester United are reportedly one of four clubs hoping to win the race for Benfica striker Darwin Nunez this summer.

The 22-year-old was linked with several top European clubs during his days at Almeria before moving to Benfica, where he has kept up his prolific tendencies.

Nunez has scored 21 goals and set up two more in 26 appearances across all competitions this term, and West Ham United supposedly failed with a January bid for the Uruguay international.

Now, Portuguese outlet A Bola claims that Man United have entered the race for his services, but the Red Devils will face competition from Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund and AC Milan.

The report adds that Nunez will command a fee of at least €50m (£43m) this summer, in spite of former manager Jorge Jesus claiming that he could be the club's most expensive departure, surpassing Joao Felix's €126m (£106.2m) move to Atletico Madrid.

Nunez boasts 35 goals and 14 assists in total from 70 appearances in a Benfica shirt, and the forward is not due to become a free agent until 2025.
