Monaco defender Benoit Badiashile confirms Manchester United bid

Benoit Badiashile believes that "it was the right choice" to stay at Monaco last summer after confirming that Manchester United made an approach.

Monaco defender Benoit Badiashile has insisted that he has no regrets over a move to Manchester United falling through last summer.

The Red Devils were strongly linked with the France Under-21s international last year in their search for a centre-back to partner Harry Maguire.

Badiashile has confirmed that a bid was made by United at the time, but a transfer did not materialise and he is glad to have since played regularly for Ligue 1 title challengers Monaco.

Asked if he had any regrets about missing out on a move to Old Trafford, the 19-year-old told RMC Sport: "No, not at all.

"It was the right choice [to stay at Monaco]. First off is I have not enjoyed good seasons since I have been at Monaco.

"We played to stay up and so now I am really experiencing the top of the table and I think that continuing with the club that formed me was the right decision and this is being proved by the season that we are having."

Badiashile, also touted as a target for Real Madrid in the past, has started 25 of Monaco's 26 league matches in 2020-21.
