Manchester United and Manchester City send scouts to watch Inter Milan defender Lorenzo Pirola at the Under-17 World Cup in Brazil, according to a report.

Manchester United and Manchester City have sent scouts to watch Inter Milan defender Lorenzo Pirola at the Under-17 World Cup in Brazil, according to a report.

The 17-year-old is yet to make his senior debut for Antonio Conte's side but he has caught the attention of many top clubs after his showings for the club's youth teams.

FC Inter News reports that while United have been tracking the defender for longer, both teams had scouts in attendance for Italy's game with Paraguay in the tournament on Sunday.

Although Carmine Nunziata's side lost that game, they are through to the last 16 and they will face Ecuador for a place in the quarter-finals on Thursday.

Pirola also impressed for Italy during this summer's European Under-17 Championship, being named in the Team of the Tournament as the young Azzurri finished second to the Netherlands.
