Manchester United attacker Jesse Lingard targets a period of sustained success for his side to emulate the famed 'Class of 92'.

Jesse Lingard has said that he wants "to try and emulate" the success of Manchester United's famed 'Class of 92' with the help of teammates Marcus Rashford and Paul Pogba.

The Red Devils won a string of major honours with Paul Scholes, David Beckham, Nicky Butt, Ryan Giggs, Gary Neville and Phil Neville in their ranks, each of whom progressed through the youth system at the same time.

Lingard now hopes to follow in the steps of those legendary players by guiding his side to a period of sustained domestic success, with Rashford and Pogba also graduating from the Old Trafford academy in recent years.

"It is all about making new history but you see the team with Paul Scholes, David Beckham, Gary Neville, etc, and you see what they achieved and it is only right that the likes of me, Marcus and Paul try and emulate that and win trophies," he is quoted as saying by BBC Sport.

"They came through the ranks together, but my [youth] team went their separate ways so to have another home lad like Marcus in the team and with Paul having been here since 16, we just want to try and emulate what they did."

Lingard has made more Premier League starts this season (26) than in any other since his Man United debut in 2014-15.
