Manchester City 'deny bid for Atletico Madrid defender Jose Gimenez'

Manchester City reportedly deny that they have made an approach for Atletico Madrid defender Jose Gimenez during the current transfer window.

Manchester City have reportedly dismissed suggestions that they have made a bid for Atletico Madrid defender Jose Gimenez.

Despite the arrival of Nathan Ake from Bournemouth, Pep Guardiola is eager to bring in a second new centre-back before the end of the summer transfer window.

City have been linked with an approach for Gimenez, a player who is allegedly valued in the region of £80m by his club.

However, Sky Sports News claims that City have distanced themselves from making a formal offer for the Uruguay international.

The report suggests that the Premier League giants have no intention of paying that kind of price on a single player in the coming weeks.

City have also been credited with an interest in Napoli's Kalidou Koulibaly.
