Manchester City's friendly with Houston Dynamo in doubt due to extreme weather

Manchester City's friendly against Owen Coyle's Houston Dynamo is cast into doubt by extreme weather in the US.

Manchester City's post-season friendly with Major League Soccer outfit Houston Dynamo is in jeopardy due to extreme weather conditions in Texas.

A state of emergency was declared in the US state after a deluge in Texas and Oklahoma killed at least 11 people and turned streets into rivers.

The City squad is currently in Canada for the first leg of their after-season tour, but are due to fly to Houston on Thursday to face Owen Coyle's side.

However, the storms have left roads in the area inaccessible and many residents without electricity, casting the game into doubt.

"Prior to last night it had been very nice but then it was incredible. I think normally in the month of May five inches of rain falls but there was 10 inches in six hours last night so the whole city has been very badly affected by it. Everybody is trying to make the best of a difficult situation," Sky Sports News quotes Coyle as saying.

"A lot of the roads have looked like rivers. We normally start training at 10am and we had to put that back to 2pm to try and allow the players get into training. But in adversity people stick together and work ever so hard to put things right."

Former Wigan Athletic and Burnley boss Coyle has been in charge of Houston since December last year.
