Southampton are reportedly mulling over a loan move for Liverpool and England striker Daniel Sturridge until the end of the season.

Southampton have reportedly expressed an interest in signing Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge on loan until the end of the season.

The Saints will have £75m at their disposal in the January transfer window following the sale of defender Virgil van Dijk to the Anfield outfit.

Mauricio Pellegrino is believed to be eager to reinvest the bulk of the money as soon as possible on signing players and paying wages to edge the struggling Saints up the Premier League table.

Sturridge, meanwhile, has found first-team action hard to come by due to injuries and the emergence of Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino, Philippe Coutinho and Sadio Mane as the Reds' preferred attacking quartet.

According to The Telegraph, Southampton are eager to bring the England striker into the fold to help increase their firepower while giving the 28-year-old precious minutes ahead of the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

Sturridge has made 133 appearances for Liverpool since his 2013 move from Chelsea, scoring 64 goals and registering 24 assists in the process.
