Liverpool are reportedly looking at reducing the option-to-buy price for Schalke 04 defender Ozan Kabak, who is currently on loan at Anfield.

Liverpool are reportedly aiming to reduce the fee to sign current loanee Ozan Kabak on a permanent basis from Schalke 04.

Kabak joined Liverpool from Schalke in January on loan to cover for the injuries to centre-backs Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Joel Matip.

The 21-year-old has started seven of Liverpool's last eight games, establishing himself in Klopp's team most recently alongside Nat Phillips.

Liverpool paid Schalke £1.5m for the loan deal of the centre-back, which includes an option to buy the player for £18m at the end of the season.

However, Football Insider reports that Liverpool are now looking to halve this price by exploiting the German club's financial situation.

Schalke are currently bottom of the Bundesliga with only one win to their name this season, and are experiencing severe debt.
