Jurgen Klopp reportedly meets with the representatives of Morocco midfielder Sofyan Amrabat, who starred as his nation reached the World Cup semi-finals.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has reportedly met with Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat's representatives ahead of a potential move for the player.

The 26-year-old impressed at the World Cup as Morocco reached the semi-finals of the tournament, and the Reds are believed to be in the market for new additions in the engine room as their league season has stalled following defeats to Brentford and Brighton & Hove Albion.

French outlet Foot Mercato reports that Klopp has held talks with Amrabat's representatives and expressed his desire to bring the midfielder to Anfield.

However, the outlet claims that the player is set to snub Premier League interest in favour of a move to Atletico Madrid, to play under Diego Simeone, whom he spoke about at the World Cup.

"I like his style of play. He has won a lot and I have a lot of respect for him. The players on his team are physically strong and aggressive. I like to play that way," he told Spanish outlet Marca.

Liverpool sit ninth in the Premier League, 10 points behind Manchester United in fourth place.
