Liverpool goalkeeper Pepe Reina believes the club's summer signings have helped them close the gap on the Premier League's top teams.

Pepe Reina believes that Liverpool have closed the gap on the Premier League's top teams.

The Reds currently sit fifth in the table and are looking to finish in the top four after a two-year absence from the Champions League.

The Spanish goalkeeper has pointed to the arrival of several summer signings as a key factor in Liverpool's notable improvement.

"I hope (the signings) have helped close the gap," said Reina.

"We are clearly playing better and are winning games and that is key.

"It is still early days to talk about closing gaps but we will find out at the end of the season. Hopefully the distance won't be as big."

Reina joined the Merseyside outfit in 2005 and has gone on to make 228 appearances for the club.
