Former Southampton manager Claude Puel is believed to be a candidate for the vacant Leicester City job, according to reports.

Former Southampton manager Claude Puel has emerged as a candidate for the Leicester City job, according to reports.

The Foxes sacked Craig Shakespeare earlier this week, with no immediate replacement lined up and Michael Appleton stepping in on a caretaker basis.

Puel, meanwhile, was dismissed by Southampton this summer despite guiding the club to an eighth-place finish in the Premier League table and a the EFL Cup final.

According to the Daily Mail, Leicester director of football Jon Rudkin is now leading the process to find Shakespeare's full-time successor, with Puel one of the names on the list.

Burnley boss Sean Dyche, Wales manager Chris Coleman and Huddersfield Town head coach David Wagner have also been mentioned by the report as potential candidates.

Leicester currently sit 18th in the Premier League table and are winless since August.
