Stuart Pearce declares interest in vacant Fulham managerial job

Stuart Pearce admits that he would be open to taking charge of Fulham should he be offered the job, nine months after being sacked by Nottingham Forest.

Former England Under-21s manager Stuart Pearce has become the latest to register an interest in taking over at Fulham.

The West London outfit are on the lookout for a new boss following the departure of Kit Symons earlier this month.

Current Reading chief Steve Clarke was the strong favourite to take charge at Craven Cottage, but he has now decided to remain with the Royals after a breakdown in talks.

Many other names still remain in the frame, including Nigel Pearson, Paul Tisdale and Alan Curbishley, while Pearce - who boasts experience at Championship level with Nottingham Forest - has now admitted that he would like to be considered.

Speaking to Sky Sports News, the 53-year-old made his interest in the job known by declaring that he "would certainly" be open to taking on the role.

Pearce was sacked by Forest in February following a poor run of form that saw the club drift into mid-table obscurity.
