Six different England players find the net as the Under-21s, under the guidance of Roy Hodgson, thrash their Scottish counterparts at Bramall Lane.

England Under-21s thrashed their Scottish counterparts 6-0 at Bramall Lane on Tuesday in the curtain raiser for the meeting between the two senior sides at Wembley.

The Three Lions were under the guidance of national team manager Roy Hodgson, who is in temporary charge after long-serving boss Stuart Pearce left his role with the FA earlier this summer.

Norwich City's summer signing Nathan Redmond opened the scoring within three minutes, before Liverpool winger Raheem Sterling latched on to a Connor Wickham flick-on to slot past Jordan Archer.

Wickham got on the scoresheet himself after the break when Archer miskicked a clearance to the Sunderland striker, who calmly turned the ball past the Tottenham academy goalkeeper.

Ross Barkley took advantage of some sloppy Scottish defending to add a fourth on 55 minutes, and Jonjo Shelvey netted from long range just 60 second later.

Redmond capped a fine individual display when he pulled back for substitute Tom Carroll to thump into the side netting, which completed the scoring and a superb night's work for England's youngsters.
