Crystal Palace's Alan Pardew: 'Villa loss one of our poorest displays of season'

Alan Pardew says that Crystal Palace's defeat to Aston Villa was one of their "poorest displays" of the season.

Crystal Palace manager Alan Pardew has described his side's defeat to struggling Aston Villa as one of their "poorest displays" of the season.

The Eagles were undone by a mistake from their own goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey, who allowed Joleon Lescott's header to trickle into the back of the net.

"A lot of things went wrong - we lacked energy, we lacked quality, one of our poorest displays of the season," BBC Sport quotes Pardew as saying. "Villa really deserved their victory - they worked so, so hard.

"We couldn't find an offensive link-up. Wayne Hennessey will obviously be disappointed with the goal - he got himself in a mess, but he's been terrific for us and that's the nature of goalies."

The result was Villa's first victory in 19 games.
