Manchester City youngster Nico O'Reilly is in line for a double-your-money contract at the Etihad Stadium, according to a report.

The 20-year-old made his second Premier League start in as many gameweeks against Manchester United on Sunday afternoon, helping Pep Guardiola's side keep a clean sheet in a 0-0 derby draw.

O'Reilly had previously completed the full 90 in the 2-0 midweek win over Leicester City, on what was his first-ever start in the top flight following unforeseen FA Cup heroics.

The 2005-born talent has been one of the players of the tournament in 2024-25, coming up with three goals and two assists in four appearances to propel City into the semi-finals.

After bagging a brace in the 3-1 fifth-round win over Plymouth Argyle, O'Reilly - who has played as a left-back, centre-back and attacking midfielder this season - came off the bench to provide a pair of assists in the 2-1 quarter-final success over Bournemouth.

O'Reilly is technically still on the books with Man City's Under-21s, but he is contracted to the Premier League champions until 2028, meaning that there is no major rush to agree fresh terms.

However, The Sun claims that Chelsea have thrown their hat into the ring for the 20-year-old and are hopeful of luring him away from the Etihad in the same manner as they did Cole Palmer.

The Blues supposedly failed with an offer for O'Reilly during the January transfer window, and while they are refusing to throw in the towel, Man City hope to ward off their advances with a double-your-money renewal offer.

O'Reilly and the Citizens are said to have been in talks over a new agreement for the past several weeks, and Pep Guardiola is particularly keen to secure the future of a player he rates incredibly highly.

O'Reilly's new terms will apparently tie him down to the Premier League champions for the next five years, meaning a two-year extension on top of his current agreement until the summer of 2030.

How much will O'Reilly earn with new deal?

If O'Reilly does agree to stay on at the Etihad, the report adds that the 20-year-old will earn £25,000 a week, and that deal would finally force Chelsea to 'admit defeat' in their efforts to pull off a Palmer repeat.

As well as the increase to his base pay, O'Reilly can apparently look forward to 'incremental rises' each year, in addition to performance-related bonuses.

The England Under-20 international has represented the Citizens since joining as a youth player in 2013 and has now made 12 appearances for the senior side, registering three goals and two assists, all of which have come in the FA Cup.

O'Reilly will be looking to retain his place in the Man City starting lineup when Guardiola's side return to action against Crystal Palace next Saturday lunchtime.
