Chelsea's Frank Lampard favourite to be next manager sacked

Chelsea manager Frank Lampard is the bookies' new favourite to be the next Premier League boss sacked from his job after Tuesday's defeat to Leicester City.

Chelsea boss Frank Lampard is now the bookmakers' favourite to be the next Premier League manager sacked from his job.

The under-fire Englishman witnessed his team fall to a 2-0 defeat to title-chasing Leicester City on Tuesday night, with Wilfred Ndidi and James Maddison bagging the goals in a dominant win for the Foxes.

Lampard's charges have now lost five of their last eight matches in the top flight, and they are now fighting to make the top four after being tipped for Premier League glory earlier in the season.

Now, bookmakers Betfair have Lampard down as the favourite to be the next manager to face the axe at odds of 8/11, with Newcastle United's Steve Bruce close behind at 15/8.

Arsenal's recent resurgence sees them sit just two points adrift of eighth-placed Chelsea after a dismal start to the campaign, but Mikel Arteta's future is still in doubt at 14/1, while Wolverhampton Wanderers' worrying form sees Nuno Espirito Santo in number five at 11/1.

Five points now separate Chelsea from fourth-placed Liverpool - who have a game in hand - while Leicester rose to the top of the pile with Tuesday's win on their own turf.
