Montreal Impact "willing to accommodate" Chelsea role for Didier Drogba

Montreal Impact are "willing to accommodate" Didier Drogba's desire to help former club Chelsea but expect the striker to return to MLS action next year

MLS side Montreal Impact have said that they are "willing to accommodate" Didier Drogba's wishes to help stricken former club Chelsea.

The Canadian outfit still want the veteran striker to turn out for them next season as he is under contract, but they will let him speak to Chelsea over a possible coaching or ambassadorial role.

New Blues interim manager Guus Hiddink, who Drogba sat with during the 3-1 Premier League win over Sunderland on Saturday, recently said that the 37-year-old's heart was still with the club.

The Impact tweeted: "We are currently in contact with Didier Drogba and Chelsea FC. We are doing everything we can to have him back with the Impact in 2016.

"We understand his attachment to his former club and his desire to help them. We are willing to accommodate him.

"But our objective is to have him back for another season, as agreed in his contract. This situation is out of our control."

Drogba joined the Impact in July, at the end of his second spell with Chelsea, and has impressed with 11 goals in 11 appearances.
