Premier League outfit Brentford make an approach to sign Nice's 24-year-old Danish forward Kasper Dolberg ahead of the 2022-23 campaign, according to a report.

Premier League outfit Brentford have made an approach to sign Nice forward Kasper Dolberg ahead of the 2022-23 campaign, according to a report.

The Dane has largely underperformed in Ligue 1 since making the €20m (£18m) move from Ajax back in the summer of 2019, scoring 24 goals in 85 appearances across all competitions during his three-year stay so far.

The 24-year-old was often utilised in a two-man attack alongside Andy Delort for the Riviera club under Christophe Galtier last season.

However, Galtier's departure for Paris Saint-Germain has seen Lucien Favre return to the club as manager, and the 64-year-old is looking to implement a 4-3-3 setup at Nice during the new campaign according to Get French Football News.

Such a move is likely to see Dolberg pushed down the pecking order according to the report, and as a result, Nice will be willing to sanction a move for the Denmark international this summer.

The report suggests that the Bees have approached Nice over a potential deal ahead of the 2022-23 season, but that any move is unlikely to be completed soon due to Favre running the rule over his squad in pre-season.

Should Dolberg make the move to West London this summer, he would link up with fellow Dane Thomas Frank - the Brentford boss - as well as the likes of Christian Norgaard, Mathias Jensen, Mads Roerslev and Mads Bech Sorensen, in a strong Danish contingent within the Premier League side.
