Oscar Wendt: 'Borussia Monchengladbach want to stay in top four'

Borussia Monchengladbach left-back Oscar Wendt hopes that his side can maintain their form for the second half of the Bundesliga season.

Borussia Monchengladbach left-back Oscar Wendt has encouraged his teammates to maintain their level of performance for the second half of the Bundesliga season.

An unbeaten home record has seen Gladbach finish the first 17 games in third place, ahead of Borussia Dortmund, but Wendt said that the job is only half complete and would count for nothing if they have a disappointing next 17.

"We want to stay near the top of the table so that we're happy not just now but at the end of the season as well," Wendt told Bundesliga.com. "In my opinion, we deserve to be among the league's top teams after the first half of the season.

"We play the right style to suit our squad. We keep the ball well, move around a lot and we have a lot of players who can turn defence into attack. For us full-backs, it's easier to get involved going forward when we have more of the ball."

Gladbach won eight of their opening nine games at Borussia-Park.
