Cheick Diabate says that Bordeaux never stopped believing they could win the Coupe de France.

Two-goal hero Cheick Diabate has hailed the belief among his Bordeaux teammates following their Coupe de France victory over Evian TG.

Les Girondins won 3-2 at the Stade de France to secure the tournament for a fourth time in their 132-year history.

Diabate broke the deadlock just before half time and could have put his side further in front from the penalty spot just after the restart, but his kick was saved by Bertand Laquait.

In an unfortunate twist, Evian equalised two minutes later through Yannick Sagbo.

Francis Gillot's men were pegged back once again at 2-2, but the Mali international popped up in the last minute to seal victory for his team.

"It was a very, very tough game against a great team," UEFA.com quotes the 25-year-old as saying. "Credit to our team though, who kept believing in themselves after I missed the penalty.

"I knew I would have another chance before the end."

Diabate came through the youth system at the Stade Chaban Delmas, making his debut in 2008.
