Neil McDonald: Henry Cameron 'in contention' for Bury start

Young winger Henry Cameron is "growing as a player all the time" at Blackpool, according to manager Neil McDonald.

Blackpool boss Neil McDonald has revealed that Henry Cameron has played himself into contention for a regular first-team spot.

The 18-year-old winger has forced his way into the reckoning in recent weeks following a string of impressive displays from the bench.

McDonald was happy with Cameron's showing against Crewe Alexandra in midweek, which could see him remain in the side for the trip to face Bury at the weekend.

"He's really putting the work in now," the Blackpool Gazette quotes McDonald as saying. "He did well on Tuesday and is growing as a player all the time, he got at their defenders.

"That's put him into contention for a start on Saturday. He's come into full time training which has been difficult for him. He's also had a couple of 'niggly' injuries and hopefully we'll see the best of him now."

Cameron could miss up to three Blackpool matches next month should he be called up to the New Zealand national side for their upcoming friendlies.
