Bayern Munich announce the signing of Netherlands defender Daley Blind from Ajax on a short-term deal until the end of the season.

Bayern Munich have announced the signing of Netherlands defender Daley Blind on a short-term contract until the end of the current season.

The 32-year-old joins the German champions following his departure from Ajax, where he made a total of 333 appearances across two separate spells, scoring 13 goals and setting up 21 more.

Blind spent four years at Manchester United between 2014 and 2018 before returning to his homeland, and he made 19 appearances for Ajax in the first half of the 2022-23 campaign.

"I can hardly wait to play here. We've got the most important part of the season coming up, where it's about titles – and a club like Bayern can win every trophy," Blind told the official Bayern website.

"The hunger for titles here at the club was key in my decision. I hope I can bring my experience to help the team. I'll give everything for Bayern Munich."

Blind came up with two assists for Ajax during his final half-season, and he featured regularly for the Netherlands during their run to the World Cup 2022 quarter-finals.

The Dutchman scored and claimed an assist in Oranje's 3-1 win over the USA in the last 16, and he is only one cap away from reaching 100 for his country.

Bayern sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic added: "We're delighted that Daley is joining our team. Daley is a versatile defender, capable of playing on the left or in the centre. He has great international experience and leadership qualities. I'm sure he'll help us."

Blind has won seven Eredivisie titles, the FA Cup, the Europa League and EFL Cup during his lengthy career and was also named Netherlands' footballer of the year in 2014.
