Barcelona 'had no intention of re-signing Neymar'

Barcelona allegedly had no intention of re-signing Neymar from Paris Saint-Germain during the summer.

Barcelona allegedly had no intention of trying to secure a reunion with Paris Saint-Germain forward Neymar during the summer transfer window.

During the months before the start of the current campaign, there was persistent speculation regarding the future of the Brazilian, who was keen to secure a move away from Parc des Princes.

Having previously enjoyed a successful spell at Camp Nou, Barcelona was said to be the 27-year-old's preferred destination.

However, according to Journal du Dimanche, the Catalan giants had little interest in putting together a big-money proposal for the attacker.

There have been widespread reports about Lionel Messi wishing to renew his partnership with Neymar, although it has been suggested that it never became a realistic possibility.

Neymar still has over two-and-a-half years left on his PSG contract.
