Barcelona injury, suspension news vs. Borussia Dortmund: Dani Olmo, Inigo Martinez latest ahead of Champions League contest

Sports Mole looks at Barcelona's injury and suspension news ahead of their Champions League clash with Borussia Dortmund.

Barcelona will welcome Borussia Dortmund on Wednesday night for the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final.

The Catalan giants will enter the match off the back of a 1-1 draw with Real Betis in Spain's top flight, which allowed them to open up a four-point lead over second-placed Real Madrid at the top of the La Liga table.

Hansi Flick's side will now be bidding to claim an advantage in the first leg of their last-eight European fixture ahead of the return game in Germany on April 15.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up Barcelona's injury and suspension news ahead of the clash with Dortmund, who recorded a 4-1 victory over Freiburg in the Bundesliga on Saturday.


Inigo Martinez

Type of injury: Muscle
Possible return date: April 9 (vs. Dortmund)

Martinez was absent against Real Betis due to a minor muscular injury, but the centre-back has a strong chance of being back in the squad for the contest with Dortmund.

Possible return date: Unknown

Bernal suffered an ACL injury against Rayo Vallecano in the league earlier this term, and he is out for the season, with the youngster working to be ready for pre-season ahead of the 2025-26 campaign.

Barcelona remain without their number one goalkeeper Ter Stegen due to the serious knee injury that he suffered in the clash with Villarreal on September 22. However, the German is now back on the training field and making excellent progress in his recovery.

Midfielder Casado picked up a knee injury during the La Liga clash with Atletico before the March international break, and it is likely that he will now be absent for the remainder of the 2024-25 campaign.

Olmo suffered an adductor injury shortly after scoring against Osasuna in La Liga at the end of March, and the Spaniard will now be on the sidelines until at least the return game with Dortmund on April 15.
