Aston Villa manager Unai Emery is reportedly keen to sign Pau Torres from his former club Villarreal.

Aston Villa are reportedly interested in signing Villarreal defender Pau Torres.

Unai Emery recently left Villarreal to take over the reins as Aston Villa manager, but the Spaniard looks set to turn to his former club in the transfer market.

According to Football Insider, Emery is keen to strengthen the Villa defence by bringing Torres to the Midlands club.

The 25-year-old was linked with a move away to the Premier League in the summer, but a transfer never materialised, ensuring that he remained at Villarreal where he has started all 12 La Liga games this season.

However, Villa could move to sign Torres in January or next summer's transfer window, as Emery looks to bring in a left-side defender that matches his playing style.

With his current contract set to expire in June 2024, Villarreal are believed to be asking for a fee in the region of £40m.
