David Seaman wants new Arsenal contract for Arsene Wenger

Former Arsenal goalkeeper David Seaman says that he would be "delighted" to see Arsene Wenger extend his stay at the club beyond the end of the season.

Former Arsenal goalkeeper David Seaman has said that he would be "delighted" if Arsene Wenger extended his stay at the club.

The Frenchman celebrated 20 years in charge of the Gunners earlier this month, but is currently in the final year of his contract.

Wenger has been linked with the England post should his time with Arsenal come to an end next summer, but Seaman believes that a move into international management would be "too much" for the 66-year-old.

"For me, he is a great manager and if he signed another contract I would be delighted. I have worked with him, I know how good he is," he told talkSPORT.

"I wouldn't think he would take [the England job]. Once he is done with Arsenal, I think that might be it. He might take a step back into a director of football role.

"I just think the England job might be too much for him. I have seen Arsene from when he first came to Arsenal to where is now and when you watch him on the bench, he is more animated, he loses his temper and throws water bottles, and I think that is not the Arsene Wenger I know."

Seaman won two Premier League titles under Wenger at Arsenal.
