Arsenal 'handed major Kieran Tierney injury boost'

Arsenal's Kieran Tierney could be fit for Monday's Premier League clash with Newcastle United, according to a report.

Arsenal defender Kieran Tierney could reportedly be fit for Monday's Premier League clash with Newcastle United.

The 23-year-old was absent against Crystal Palace on Thursday night, and Gunners boss Mikel Arteta revealed after the clash with the Eagles that the Scotland international needed a scan on a calf issue.

There were suggestions that the left-back could be facing an extended period on the sidelines, but according to The Athletic, the injury suffered by Tierney is not serious, with the MRI picking up just 'minor' damage.

As a result, the report claims that the former Celtic defender could be available for Arsenal's next league game at home to Newcastle on Monday night.

Tierney has been in impressive form for the Gunners during the 2020-21 campaign, contributing one goal and three assists in 22 appearances in all competitions.

Arteta's side saw a four-game winning run halted by Palace on Thursday and will be looking for their eighth Premier League victory of the season against Steve Bruce's side.
